Group founded by Westwood woman to collect signatures at Teaneck festival.
A group working to have Bergen County's Blue Laws eliminated through a voter referendum will collect signatures at Teaneck's Memorial Day festival on Cedar Lane. Westwood resident Rosemary Shashoua, the group's founder, said they have collected 575 signatures as of Sunday, NJ.com reported. It will take 2,500 signatures from registered Bergen County voters to get on the November ballot. According to the group's Facebook page, they hope to collect as many as 500 signatures at the Teaneck event. Group volunteers plan to setup outside 446 Cedar Lane. HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley CEO Chad Melton wants the hospital to increase bed counts within the next few years, according to northjersey.com. Melton said he doesn't think Bergen competitors will "lose volume" as a result.
With Valley Hospital struggling to modernize its own facilities through a controversial expansion project, a major competitor announced it too has visions of expansion – and it's not even open for business yet. According to a Sunday report on northjersey.com, Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley is optimistic its new facility will drum up enough business to quickly expand. Pascack Valley Hospital declared bankrupcy in 2007 and has been dormant since. “If we truly have the volume here and the support we think, within the next three years we’ll be looking to add inpatient rooms,” Chad Melton, chief executive of the 128-bed hospital, told the news website. HUMC at Pascack Valley, scheduled to open June 1, is the first for-…

The new yoga studio is located at 615 Broadway.
A former garage on Broadway in Westwood is now the home of a new hot yoga studio. One Love Hot Yoga recently opened at 615 Broadway, growing on the success of their first location in Ridgewood and offering, for now, about 27 classes each week at the new site. The studio specializes in Vinyasa/flow style yoga, in which practioners move from pose to pose in a fluid style, as opposed to the Bikram style in which poses are held longer, according to Jenny Nunn, the studio manager. It's also "hot yoga," and the studio reaches temperatures up to 95 degrees with 50 to 60 percent humidity. "When your body is warm, your muscles are more relaxed and you're able to go deeper," Nunn said. The community at One Love is just as warm as the studio, Nunn …

More than 1,000 truckloads of dirt would be imported to the site as part of the project.
A plan for a new 57-unit apartment building on Patterson Street in Hillsdale would require 1,040 truckloads of fill to raise the portion of the site where the building and parking lot would sit. Richard Eichenlaub, an engineer for the project, testified during a Hillsdale Planning Board meeting Wednesday that retaining walls would be built as part of the plan, ranging from 2 or 3 feet in height at the front end of the property and rising to 8.5 feet at the rear. They would need 18,977 cubic yards of dirt — 16,581 of which would be imported — to fill the area, he said. Delivering all the fill would take about two weeks, he said. One resident pointed out that a truck would have to arrive every "five minutes" in order to deliver all the loads…
