What Should Go Near Five Corners?

A man who planned to open a golden age movie theater in Westwood is looking for a new location. What kind of business would you like to see open?

A man who planned to open a golden age movie theater on Kinderkamack Road in Westwood is looking for a new location because of an objection from the owner of Pascack Theaters.

The theater was going to open alongside a planned dry cleaner and a medical office in 312 Kinderkamack Road, which is located near the Five Corners intersection. The other two businesses are still continuing with an application before the Westwood Zoning Board, leaving the third spot open.

The site is located on the edge of Westwood's Central Business District, so it is zoned for a wide variety of uses.

While I am not sure what type of business should go in the open retail space, I don't think Westwood needs a second movie theatre. Between Westwood, Closter, Washington Twp., and of course Paramus, you can see any movie at almost any time! How about a business that the people in Westwood really need?

Rose Marie - perhaps you didn't read the detail on the original proposed theatre? It was going to be a revival theatre showing old (pre 70's) movies, black and white, etc.....
In any event, my family and I were really looking forward to the revival theatre, imagine for example how great Halloween would have been with good old fashioned b&w scary movies on the big screen again...

Hold on! The revival theater is not dead-in-the-water yet! Ray Walsh is still fighting against the big bully in town to try to open his theater. And, thank you, Kat, for clarifying. The theater will feature films such as Gold Diggers of 1933 and Witness for the Prosecution--things that you just can't see on a big screen anywhere else, shown by someone who is a genuine lover of classic film. And from what it sounds like from everyone else on other Patch stories, Westwood could use some livening up and open stories, as well as variety. Imagine a dinner out followed by some classic cinema! This theater will make a great addition to your downtown. Thanks for your support, Kat! You've given us some great ideas for next Halloween :)

That's great news, Lisa! You had me at "Witness for the Prosecution". If you decide to start a petition, allow me to be the first to sign. It worked for Sugarflake Bakery. Pls. keep us posted.
