Westwood Students Selling Art For Sandy Relief
The exhibit, called “WWRSD has heART,” will be displayed in the high school through Tuesday and then at the Westwood Gallery starting Thursday.
Art students from Westwood Regional High School and Middle School are selling their artwork to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief.
The exhibit, called “WWRSD has heART,” features 14 images on the theme of "have a heart." The students' work will be on display in the high school through Tuesday, then move to the Westwood Gallery starting Thursday.
There are 8 x 10 prints of the work available for purchase. The prints cost $5 each and can be bought at the Westwood Gallery or by emailing pduffus@wwrsd.org. All of the profits will go to hurricane relief.
The gallery will host a an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The exhibit will remain on display through February 16.
The 14 images included in the exhibit were chosen from a pool of about 100 entries. The winning artists are: seniors Alex Russo, Lea Orsini, Lissa Urena and John Haiduk, junior Uarnice Hong, sophomores Ashley Griffith, Lauren Sietz, McKenzie Knapp and Rebecca Bischof, freshmen Olivia Gow and Pranav Muthuraman, eighth-grade students Chritina Chi and Laura Scheidler and sixth-grade student Michelle Kalish.

John Haiduk was once my student. I knew years ago that he had talent, but this beautiful depiction blows me away. It speaks a million words and makes my heart swell with pride. Fantastic!!!!!

Rebuilding the Jersey shore after Hurricane Sandy is like rebuilding our heart ! Brilliant John!! I love it and want to see this turned into a short film to watch these little guys finish it ! John Haiduk has a beautiful heart !! Can't wait to see what the future brings him he deserves so much!!!
