United Water Lawsuit, Deadline For Assemblyman This Week
Here's a look at the week ahead in Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township
The Washington Township Council is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Complex Monday. At their last meeting, the council voted to reject four bids they received for an emergency generator and go out to bid a second time in hopes of finding a better deal. The township has been renting a generator since their old one spewed gas into the Police Department.
Tuesday, United Water and Hillsdale representatives are scheduled to meet with a judge to discuss the lawsuit the utility filed seeking to void two borough ordinances passed last year. The Hillsdale Council also has a meeting that night at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
Friday is the deadline set by the Attorney General's Office for State Assemblyman Robert Schroeder to decide whether or not he will take a plea deal. Schroeder was indicted by a grand jury on charges he stole millions from investors and wrote knowingly wrote bad checks worth millions more. If Schroeder pleads guilty, he will get five years in state prison, have to repay the money and agree to never hold public office again.
Friday is also the deadline to RSVP for the Westwood-Washington Township Education Foundation's annual gala. This year's event will be a casino night at Seasons. Westwood almun Linda Bowden and seven staff members will be honored at the event.
