Seems that the government cannot afford to continue to support programs such as the food stamp program, medicare/ medicaid programs, social security, nor can government continue it's payments to the unemployed, but it can afford to conduct business to the tune of thousands of taxpayer dollars with this NJ State Assemblyman. According to today's Record, Schroeder is blaming President Obama, saying the bad economy made him do it. I guess all the other households and business people in the Township who have been struggling and DIDN'T kite checks don't count. He's also blaming defense spending cuts. I guess he thinks we should keep throwing American kids into a meat grinder just to feed his big house in town and that supersedes even the Republican mantra of cutting spending. He's been sued over and over again for a decade. This is no isolated incident.

Which one of us hasn't made mistakes in our lives. Why is everybody throwing stones, people in glass houses should not throw stones. This man has done nothing but contribute to our community, church and senior organizations. He had tried to do good for all people. If he made a mistake...so be it. We all do.

Sure has has done good for the Community but maybe that was a cover for what was going on? He would not be the first to live such a life. Again, the victims here are the rest of his family. He is a smart man and got carried away with himself. He spent way too much money on a misguided run for Govenor which just further depleted his money most likely at the same time as changes in the war which limited his funds. He cannot blame that on anyone but himself. To blame it on the current admininstration is ridiculous, first rule of finance, don't spend more than you are taking in or can comfortably expect to take in. He was in way over his head and had several companies so he could play the shell game and unfortunately it caught up to him. Reality check time, he is human and needs to learn that himself. He is and will always be a nice man but his head/ego got too large for him.

Sounds like Maureen knows something about his property taxes and myabe we will find out in time. I have heard he has many little investors locally that are out money as well. Seems he was good at getting people to "loan" him money. This is a sad state of affairs and yes we will all have to wait for the truth to come out in the fiscal investigation that has just begun. Who knows how mortgaged up his properties are and who else is going to fall with him from his business. Either way an Ethics Lesson is in the works for at least the short term. I do wonder why all the Republicans aren't calling for him to resign or maybe they are behind the scenes. The Dems have nothing to applaud about they have such fine examples of late like Joe Ferriero & Ken Zisa. so no one should be gloating at this man's bad moves. I do however again worry about the rest of his extended family.

LOL, I bet mr. Goetz or his running mate Durso would love to elevate to the Assembly level. However.....you have to have enough votes at the County level to get that nod and neither one does since they are both relative newcombers and problems at that. If they had a good record of accomplishments then it would be a better chance. Either way Schroeder has to resign first and that has not happened so it is putting the horse before the cart as they say. Bigger issue is who will run in the November election on both sides if the opening happens. Get your score cards out now and start marking them it is going to get ugly in the Valley!

Given the performance of our mayor and council the past couple of years, it is laughable that any of them would think they merit consideration to run should Schroeder resign. Hopefully some honest, ethical, competent, mature, Republicans step up to the plate to challenge our mayor and council and run for the assembly seat should it be vacant. Our present mayor and council may be honest ,decent people, but they have demonstrated an inability to govern effectively and with sound judgment. As to Schroeder, he is innocent until proven guilty. Even if he were acquitted, this sad episode raises enough questions about his judgment that he should resign immediately for the sake of the community and his family. He does himself no good by trying to hold onto office and would only lose the next election. Now, I don't think I'm alone in hoping we get new candidates not beholden to the county republican organization lest we get more of the same, otherwise we are just asking for the Democrats to sneak into what's been relatively safe R territory

He has been kiting on several accounts for years. has a legal judgement that he reneged on and is still waking like no one can touch him. This is what is wrong with the world today. There is something known as due process and he is entitled to it. Reserve judgement till then.
