Westwood Regional, Hillsdale and Pascack Valley Regional Schools will remain closed Friday due to power outages after Hurricane Sandy.

St. John's Academy in Hillsdale and Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township also announced they would remain closed Friday.

Thousands of Westwood, Washington Township and Hillsdale residents have been without power since Hurricane Sandy blew through the region. Numerous trees were knocked over or damaged and many roads remained blocked Thursday afternoon.

Halloween and trick-or-treating were also canceled because of damage from the storm. Local officials announced plans for makeup celebrations over the weekend.
