Police Enforcing Mischief Night Curfew
Westwood and Washington Township Police have set a 9 p.m. curfew for the night before Halloween.
Police said they would hold a 9 p.m. curfew on both nights. Anyone caught defacing or damaging property will be arrested and charged, police warned. They also said any children found with dangerous items — eggs, spray paint, paintball guns, etc. — would be taken in to police headquarters and processed. Items like toilet paper and shaving cream will also be confiscated.
Police are asking parents to help prevent illegal activities by speaking to their children or supervising them when they go out.
"The police departments understand that revelry is a part of the Halloween tradition," police wrote. "Please remember that certain activities are unacceptable, even at this time of year. Damaging the property of another is against the law."
