Letter: Westwood Officials Ask For Cooperation During Snowstorms
A Message from the Westwood Department of Public Works and Police Department.
Winter storms can test the patience of Westwood residents, motorists, pedestrians, and snowplow operators. The Department of Public Works is committed to keeping the streets open, the traffic moving, and returning the Borough’s streets and sidewalks to a safe condition as quickly as possible. This article is designed to increase awareness about Westwood’s Snowplowing and Snow Removal program, and to encourage everyones cooperation in helping us achieve our goal.
Please read this article to become familiar with the rules and regulations concerning parking, snow removal and town bylaws. All residents and contractors can help by:
- Not blowing, plowing or throwing snow into the roadway before or after the street has been plowed.
- Clean your automobile in your driveway and not in the street.
- Do not park Cars on snow covered streets. Note that by Borough ordinance overnight parking is not permitted.
- Sidewalks must be shoveled within 12 hours after a storm.
Parking in the street during a snow storm creates hazardous conditions for both the residents and the snowplow operators. Failure to follow Ordinance #10-05 could result in the issuance of fines in the amount not to exceed $2,000.00. The Westwood DPW and the Police Department appreciate your patience and understanding during the winter months.
Please keep in mind that plows and salters are still hard at work well after the snow has stopped falling.
