Joan D'Alessandro Vigil, Hospice Fundraiser This Week

Here's a look at the week ahead in Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township.

Jackson Avenue in Washington Township will be closed for repaving Monday. More info about detours and dropping students at Washington School can be found here.

Hillsdale will host a candlight vigil for Joan D'Alessandro at 7 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park Monday. Joan was murdered 40 years ago while delivering Girl Scout cookies to a neighbor. Since then, her family has advoated for laws to protect children.

The Washington Township Council rescheduled their canceled meeting from last week to Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, the Westwood and Hillsdale Police Departments will both be collecting unused prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Washington Township will host an e-recycling and shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Saturday night, the Community Hospice of Bergen County will hold their annual oldies dance fundraiser. Money raised will support to group, which provides free care to patients. The dance starts at 8 p.m. in the Westwood Community Center. Tickets must be purchased in advance. .
