Hillsdale Council Considers 2013 Meeting Change
The borough's governing body may operate more similarly to other area towns next year.
The Hillsdale Council may make some changes to the way they hold their meetings next year.
Councilman Douglas Frank suggested that the council should hold their meetings on the first and third week of each month, instead of the first and second week as they currently do. The first meeting usually ends up having a heavy agenda, while the second runs a little light, he said.
Frank also suggested that the council could hold a designated work session during one of their meetings so that council members can hold face-to-face discussions, rather than speaking across the podium at each other. The Westwood and Washington Township councils each hold one work or "conference" session each month.
Mayor Max Arnowitz said he as not opposed to a change, but noted the current meeting configuration was used because of trouble paying vendors while using the first and third week schedule.
The council will decide how they want to run their meetings at the reorganization meeting January 6. The four newly-elected council members will take part in the decision.
