Local officials have canceled Halloween and are advising parents to not let their children go trick-or-treating because of hazardous conditions from Hurricane Sandy.
Hillsdale schools are each planning their own "trunk or treat" events for Monday. Smith School's will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Meadowbrook's will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and White School's will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Magnolia Avenue in front of the school.
Westwood and Washington Township held a joint trunk or treat at Westwood Regional High School Saturday. Another is being planned at Bethany Church in Washington Township from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Westwood officials have rescheduled trick-or-treating for Saturday, November 10 during daylight hours only.

I think it's great that the town is planning trunk or treats, however, they clearly sent out notifications that it's for "the students at their schools" and advised residents to direct questions to "their classmoms and their PTO members." What about all the Hillsdale kids, especially special needs kids, who are sent out of district? What about them?? Where do they go? Where do they fit in? As a mom of a child who is sent out of district, I won't be getting notification from a Hillsdale classmom and/or PTO member. The town should have thought about the rest of "their kids" when sending out a notification from "the town". Epic fail if you ask me.

Out of District Students are part of the School District they come from and should be receiving the same messages from the school as the ones who attend there. If they are not then go and speak to the Principal of the School your child would be at and have him/her change that or talk to the Superintendent. I am sure you have a parent group who speaks for these students and can also make sure that the communication is sent.

On a second not Westwood once again rescheduled it to NOT the day the Governor declared but now on Saturday by the time they are done changing the day either people will give up being at the door to hand it out or the kids will give up the thought all together from all the confusion of dates.Why the date was changed again is beyond explanation. Sure there are lines down but can you guarantee they will all be repaired by Saturday or will they cancel it again!
