Four Republicans Seek Schroeder's Seat [POLL]
Robert Schroeder's seat in the New Jersey Assembly, along with every other seat, is up for election this year.
Four Bergen County Republicans have declared their intentions to run for the New Jersey Assembly seat currently held by Robert Schroeder of Washington Township, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.
The candidates include former county Freeholder Robert Hermansen, Saddle River Council President Karen Mastriano, Old Tappan Republican municipal Chairman Bob Auth and Mayor Victor Polce, according to the report.
Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi is also planning to run for re-election, but Schroeder's own intentions have not yet been made public, according to the report.
Schroeder was indicted by a grand jury last month on charges that he stole $1.8 million from investors and knowingly wrote bad checks totalling $3.4 million for loan payments.
State Assembly officials also removed Schroeder from all of his committee assignments and his position as the deputy whip this month. His colleagues, including Schepisi, State Senator Gerald Cardinale and Bergen County Republican Organization Chairman Bob Yudin have called for Schroeder to step down.
