DD thank god

Before I go out showing homes to clients, I stop for my DD. :)

Why does the planning board have to be involved? I thought the strip mall was privately owned? Are they afraid it might compete with Sky Trading's convenience store?

The Planning Board is empowered to hear three types of matters: subdivisions, site plans and conditional use applications. B@B - I am also unclear why this application must go before the Planning Board. I wouldn't think that a restaurant is a conditional use in the strip mall.

That's funny...I was just driving past that mall yesterday thinking about how much I missed DD. Then I thought...hmm, I bet it closed because without that a bright orange sign (as hideous as it is) no one knew it was there. Welcome back!

Good to hear DD coming back but hope not the same as the old one which wasn't the cleanest and the heat was always cranked up to about 90 !

Happy To hear Originals may be coming back . About time this town had some good Pizza , rice balls, and calzones !!

Carmela ... It is a stretch to call Vincent's a pizzeria. I went there with my kids after a movie and not only is the pizza tasteless but the restaurant is not children friendly! I dont know what competition you will be talking about! Bring back DD and originals like the good old days making the shopping center convenient and purposeful again!

Can we work on filling the empty spaces with meaningful stores? The last thing we need are more chains and junk food. We should open boutiques, book stores, specialty stores to set the town apart and make the shopping experience unique. There is an opportunity to do this with all of the empty space and attract residents from all over Bergen County. Instead, the stores that are there make WT look like a middle of no-where middle class town.

I think it is a shame that anyone would refer to Originals as not so good. Growing up in a very Italian family this is the only Italian place that we would order food from. The pizza was the best in the area and nobody has even come close since they have left. I actually use to drive to Parsippany just to get some of there food when they moved establishments....yes I did!! Not only that....they were a family place....you brought your parents, kids, friends...whomever....you were always welcome. I grew up there...they are wonderful people who I personally would LOVE to come back to our family town. I would that whole strip mall to be filled with community members who want to always be a part of a community. I hope this rumor is a true one I will welcome them home with open arms.

Bringing Dunkin Donuts back is a great move. The foot traffic at the strip mall has been down substantially since it closed. A pizza place is also a good move as long as the prices are better than the last incarnation of Original Pizza. Spending $2-$3 more for a plain pie when you can get one in Hillsdale or Westwood for 12 bucks that is better quality is a recipe that will result in another business eventually shutting down. I would suggest to Vincent's that they do away with their blacked out windows. All it does is make the space looked shut down (who is the marketing genius that came up with the idea of blacked out windows for a stripmall location? Just silly. Bad review in the Bergen Record didn't help either) I agree that the Rite Aid may be on borrowed time given the huge new CVS in Westwood

Alex Iglesias, 35, 30 of those growing up in Twp. I welcome the DD back. Our current Bagel Shop is a disgrace to the old one. It would also be great to have Dom
and Vinnie back with the puzza shop. Some old spots were the 5-10 store owned by Young, Wildridge Pharmacy and Township Hardware for those who recall. Boutiques are not Twp. We're a small town still. Always will be. It's not about affording it, I afford my place in Manhattan as well, but rather keeping the integrity of who we are.

what happened to comments from yesterday? why were they taken down?

LOL LINDA NEEDS TO GET OUT MORE !! ... the 3 pizzerias she claims that are good all have bad ratings on yelp ! LOL .. and as for a cool beans instead of dunking donuts .. i would rather pay 1.25 for my coffee than 3.00... some people just dont understand that this is a family town ... not HIGH END ! the kids need a place to hang after school ..let me as another question why do you think the post office is in the back ? If they wanted to just fill stores that would have been moved... they want quality .. and Originals is quality .. in the past there was always a restaurant by the theatre and originals was at the other end ... it was NEVER AN ISSUE ! Vincents wanted to be a trattoria well now they can kick themselves in the can .... thats what you get for not catering to kids !

Is it just me or does the bagel shop have bad hard donuts. and what about the A&P? Eesh. that place needs a refresh, but unfortunately A&P Co. is not doing well. Bring Wegman's to Twp.

Can't wait for Origionals to be back. Real Italians know its the only pizza worth eating anywhere in the pascack valley, and I'll gladly pay the extra two bucks a pie to avoid the disgusting out of a can sauce these other local pizzerias put out and claim to be homemade. As for "high end shops" while it would be nice for some diversity, it just will never work, the shopping center lacks the space and layout to give you that downtown retail and commercial kind of feel. As a life long WT resident, I prefer it that way, go shop in Paramus or Westwood, our little shopping center is about necessity
