Average Westwood, Hillsdale, Washington Twp. Commute About 30 Minutes
An interactive map shows that the average commute of Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township residents is a few minutes longer than the average American's.

Hillsdale residents have, on average, a slightly shorter commute than Westwood and Washington Township residents, according to an interactive map made by WNYC with census data.
The average commute time from Hillsdale is 29.3 minutes, compared to 31.5 minutes from Washington Township and 32.5 minutes from Westwood.
All three towns are above the national average of 25.4 minutes.
Other area towns fall into a similar range, from just 28.8 minutes from Paramus to 35.8 minutes from Ridgewood.

Please define "commute." I walk out of my front door at 7:15 a.m. and walk into my office building in midtown at 8:50 a.m., so that is 1 hour, 35 minutes.

I believe it's door-to-door time. According to the census bureau, if it takes you more than 90 minutes, you're a "mega-commuter" (though I don't know what significance that title holds)
