Senior Michelle Leao was recognized twice during the Oct. 14 Westwood Regional Board of Education meeting. She was named 12th grade student of the month for September and also received recognition for receiving the Girl Scout Gold Award. Board members congratulated her and Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller gave her certificates of recognition.

For her Girl Scout Gold Award project, Leao focused on internet safety, especially related to social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. She got the idea after her younger sister asked to get a Facebook page like her friends.
